Cassie is based upon my real life dog growing up, also named Cassie. My family got her when I was in second grade, and she passed away my last year in college. Yeah, she was pretty dang old, but I still miss her. During the second half of her life, she became a lot less excitable (except during supper time, of course), to the point where if you threw a ball, she just looked at it and expected YOU to go get it. Yeah, she had an attitude, which made her the best dog in the entire GALAXY.
